Cheshire Bespoke Build

Project Description

This project centred on the complete removal and replacement of an original 1960s closed-riser staircase in a detached family home in Prestbury, Cheshire. The existing staircase was structurally sound but visually dated, and the homeowners wanted something that reflected the high standard of the wider home renovation they had already completed. Our joinery team was brought in to design, manufacture, and install a bespoke open-riser oak staircase with a feature glass balustrade — entirely made and fitted by our own in-house craftsmen.
The staircase was designed to open up the hallway visually, drawing light from the first floor landing down through the glass balustrade panels and creating a feeling of space that the old staircase had entirely blocked. The treads were crafted from solid European oak with a brushed and lacquered finish, and the wall-side stringer was skim-plastered and painted to a seamless finish as part of the same scope. The full project — including all making good, plastering, and decoration — was completed in eight working days with the family able to access the stairs safely throughout.
