Project Description
This project involved the design and full build-out of a private home gym within an existing double garage at a detached property in Hale, Cheshire. The client — an avid fitness enthusiast — wanted a professional-grade training environment that matched the standard of a premium commercial gym, without leaving the house. The brief required heavy-duty rubber flooring capable of withstanding Olympic lifting, full acoustic insulation to prevent noise transfer into the main property, climate control, and a lighting scheme specifically designed for training rather than general domestic use.
Our team began with a full structural assessment of the garage floor slab to confirm it could support the anticipated loading from free weights and equipment. Additional reinforcement was laid before the rubber floor system was installed. The walls were fully insulated with acoustic mineral wool, lined with moisture-resistant plasterboard, and finished with an impact-resistant paint system. We installed a dedicated electrical circuit for gym equipment, a wall-mounted AC unit for year-round climate control, and a mirrored feature wall across the full width of the training space. The entire fit-out was completed in two weeks, and the client was lifting in the space within fourteen days of our first day on site.
